Security forces in Manipur nab five cadres of three underground groups

In a major clean up, security forces in Manipur on Monday apprehended five individuals belonging to different underground organizations.

Imphal, Manipur, April 23 (HBTV): In a major clean up, security forces in Manipur on Monday apprehended five individuals belonging to different underground organizations.         



Two cadres purportedly belonging to the Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup or KYKL were apprehended on Monday. They were identified by police as 25 years old Thounaojam Jiten Singh and 26 years old Ahanthem Angou Meitei.      



Another cadre of the underground outfit People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak identified by the police as 41 years old Ahongsangbam Amuba was apprehended on Monday.      



The KYKL and PREPAK are underground outfits known to have a major influence in the valley districts of Manipur.      



Further, two other individuals belonging to the Naga militant faction Nationalist Socialist Council of Nagalim (Isak-Muivah faction) were apprehended by police. They have been identified by police as 40 years old Themsreiso Siro and 46 years old Lawungsem Nongthang. A police report said approximately 1,87,000 in cash  was recovered from them.     



There is a suspension of operations between the Union government and the Naga outfit NSCN (IM) and talks have been on for a long time.
